Cascade Fixation Ankle Sock KAL IS CLOSED! It is a simple & quick basic sock! Perfect for the summer! You will need:
  • 1 Ball of Cascade Fixation Yarn (91% cotton, 1.7% elastic) use any color you like!
  • A set of US 3 Dpns
You will start off with a 1 1/2" K1, P1 cuff, Standard basic heel or Eye of Partridge heel (my favorite since it's makes for a sturdier heel)then on to the gusset. Plain stockinette stitch foot ***You will already need to know how to knit a basic sock and know your own cast on stitches using US 3 DPNS needles.

Cascade Fixation Ankle Sock-My pattern
My foot is 8" at the widest part Start off using US 3 DPNS needles with a cast on of 36 sts and knit K1, P1 for 1 1/2" cuff.
**Then make 4 extra sts (now my total will be 40 sts) **
I work the heel flap using 20 sts while the other two resting needles hold 10 sts each. My heel flap when finished is about 2" to 2 1/4", work the heel gusset, pick up sts as I would normally around the sock then decrease back down to 40 sts. The foot is worked in a plain stockinette stitch.

Eye Of Partridge Heel Flap
Row 1: *Slip 1, K1*, repeat* * end k1
Row 2: Slip 1, purl across
Row 3: Slip 1, *Slip 1, K1* repeat end k2
Row 4: Slip 1, purl across
Repeat all of these rows over until your heel flap is 2" to 2 1/4" long.

If you need help you can click the links below for Sock Help. I found these two links very helpful when I was learning how to knit socks. http://www.royea.net/sockdemo1.html http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/SockClass_Beginning.htm http://www.knitty.com/issuespring05/FEATsocks101.html

Cascade Fixation Yarn really has a good stretch to it. If you have an average size foot, then you will have a little bit of yarn left over. I have also found that using Addi Premium Bamboo Double point needles 3.25mm same as US 3 work really well with this yarn!

THIS CASCADE FIXATION KAL IS CLOSED!!! I am no longer accepting new signups for this Cascade Fixation Ankle Sock KAL. Please feel free to knit a pair any time and you can continue this KAL on your own just grab a button and post it to your site!

Finally, after months of belonging to this KAL, I have a pair of Cascade Fixation Ankle Socks!!!!

I ordered my yarn and it arrived just before we left on an extended Canadian vacation. My first project when I got in the car were these socks. I love this yarn. I have never used this yarn before; and, it took a little time to get use to holding it between my fingers. I knit tight, so I had to be extremely careful not to pull it too much when knitting. But, alas, my finished ankle socks:

I'll be ordering some more of Cascade Fixation as soon as I return from my vacation. Can't wait to do some more of these.

Opps!

This was a result of my weekend knitting.. Would you believe it, I have to do 3 more rows of decreasing the toe and graft it , but look not enough yarn!! errr! Hate when that happens, I ripped twice but apparently didn't go down enough before re-knitting... So frustrating.. putting in the basket now of UFOs!!

Edited:
Zonda baby to the rescue!! Woohooo!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! If anyone could I knew it'd be you wasn't' sure if you kept all your leftovers....YEAH!

Not anklets, but they are CF

Here is a nice pair of CF socks, approx. 6" tall. I love knitting with this yarn! I have enough yarn to make 2 more pairs of the anklets, then I'll have to see what I can do with the scraps!

Does this count?!?

I like to add different color heels and toes to my socks so I end up with leftover fixation from the ball. So I made one of these....

Some would call it a cup cozy, but for the purposes of this blog, we'll just call it a sock cuff! LOL

Socks

Here is a pair of CF socks for my friend. She did not want anklets, so I used two colors and made them taller! Hope she likes them.

Some socks for ME!

I've been so busy knitting up socks for charity, I decided that I needed a pair. Pulled out some of my Fixation and whipped up a pair (see the BLOG to see how long they actually took!)

Finally a completed pair!

I finished my first pair of Fixation socks- actually it is Elann Esprit in Incan Clay. I had two balls of it so they are no real ankle socks- but they are on the short side. I knit 48 stitches to the round on 2.75mm Bryspun needles. Perfect fit. :)

And another pair of true ankle socks- this time it IS Cascade yarn. Second sock almost done already. I hope to finish them this weekend.

After that I have two single balls of Cascade and a pair- exciting!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh! As for the heel- it is all garter which looks really interesting and is comfy too. Too bad I can't get this over here in Germany. We have cotton sock yarn, we have stretch sock yarn but an all cotton stretch yarn? Nope. :(

No picture

I made my 2nd pair of CF socks and sent them off to my sp10 pal! Her kids have taken them over so she hasn't had a chance to wear them yet! Since she knows who I am, I can leave you this, and you can see for yourselves, it's the April 27th entry.

SOCKS ARE FINISHED !!!!

Hi, everyone..... Some beautiful socks on this KAL. I finally finished mine. They are a bit longer because I had them started before I joined!
I LOVE this yarn. I'm going to make the anklets in a soft pastel. Just have to find some time.... 24 hrs is not enough time in the day for me.

New Member

Hello!

I am brand new here and love the socks! I'm looking forward to having a pair of my own. I started and have hit a snag...
Do I make short rows after the heel flap, or go straight to the gusett? This is only my second pair of socks so please be patient with me :) Thanks

Kathy

Here's a pair

I used the Fast florida Footies pattern for these. This is probably the 5th pair of these I've made. They are for my bf's mom. I do love knitting with fixation!! visit me at my new blog. Keep on with the awesome socks kids!

Just in time for Spring!

Hi everyone from your hostess KnitPastis here! I don't know about you but my feet are now starting to get hot from wearing all my wool socks. I finished these just in time for the warmer weather. I worked the pattern for this KAL as above exactly. It's so exciting seeing how creative all of you are in knitting up a pair of these! I am in enjoying how some of you are doing the toe ups and mixing up the colors. Great job everyone!

pair #2

Pair # 2 done. Ankle socks made toe up, with Elann's Espirt yarn, on size 2 needles & 48 stitches, using leftovers from pair #1 (reversed).

Began Sunday, April 1, and finished Monday, April 2.

1st of 1st pair finished

Here is the first sock, the mate should look the same, but I'm not to sure if the stripes will match. You all are positive I can get a pair out of the skein???
I used size 3 dpn's, 40 stitches.
OH, and instead of jelly beans and spring, they look more like clown socks :) ha

first pair of CF done for 2007

First pair of CF socks done for 2007! Except of course, the yarn is really the Elann version, but shh... who's gonna tell? Done toe up, size 2 needles, on 48 stitches, and using a short row heel. My next pair is almost done, using the same colors, but reversed.

new member

Hi, I'm a new member here! Glad to be here, as it's that time of the year where I gear up & start making my Cascade Fixation socks. I have some leftovers from last summer, so I'll probably knit up some scrappy socks from CF, too!

Anyways, I'm Anastacia... I'm 31, married, love to knit socks, etc. Besides knitting these socks, I also pledged to knit a sweater a month this year, and knit 52 socks in the next year, starting April 1. Yes, I'm a knitaholic!

First CF ankle socks!

Hello and thanks for letting me join this KAL. I received 2 skeins of CF in a swap and couldn't wait to join! I cast this sock on last night and was finished with the K1P1 ribbing before bedtime! It is color #9907, but I like to call it "jellybeans" it is very springy looking.
I would like to know the best way to cast on those 4 extra stitches to make it to 40....and also how to rearrange the stitches on the needles for the heel flap (I learned how to make socks the "Sensational Knitted Socks" way) and you are forever rearranging the stitches etc. Thanks for your input.

My fourth pair of Cascade Fixation socks

These will be my fourth pair of Cascade Fixation Ankle socks. I am using the pattern I wrote above. Really loving the Partridge Heel Flap as it makes for a more durable heel and easier to pick up stitches. This color is 9030.

My first skein of Cascade yarn....

Hello...this is my first time signing in on this blog..and this is my first skein of Cascade that I finally found at the Tall Mouse yarn shop. I now realize I have to order this stuff online. But, I am glad that I found some variations at this store. :) I chose Kauai, #9440, because I love pinks and purples. I can't wait to start this anklet.

A Winter pair...

Mom's Fixation Ankle socks
Fixation 8001
US 3 dpns for ribbing
US 4 circs for foot
In white (which I thought was my MIL's favorite sock color, but since have found she's game for any colors!! Good thing as I have quite a bit of this!) She's actually wearing them today and likes them. Custom made for her as she is a diabetic and has had a few ankle surgeries so the stretchiness of these are perfect for her!!
I didn't use my normal pattern, I tried this pattern for a change, I liked it! :)

After seeing Tammy's Lace Wings Fixation Socks and following the link my apple green fixation found out just what it wanted to be. Just in time for Christmas and my apple green loving big sister:)

One Lonely Broadripple Sock

It looks so big with daughter Amelia holding it, but it's just a medium sized sock, honest! I used 2 circs in size 3 and Esprit yarn from Elann. Now working on the other one but I am definitely slower on this one!

Big Blue Broadripples

Go Big Blue Broadripples

The first of the Christmas socks is done. These Broadripples are destined for my aunt. The UK (University of Kentucky) bear approves of the color.

Unfortunately I had a heck of a time with knots and underspun sections in the yarn. This was my first time using Elann Esprit, and I have at least two more pairs of Esprit socks planned for Christmas. I really hope this was just a fluke.

I've also been thinking up uses for the small balls of yarn leftover after a pair of socks. The blue became replacement headphone covers, and a bit of leftover pink Fixation is now a little cozy for my mp3 player:

Headphones covers Sony mp3 cozy

Yay for socks!

I forgot to post these yesterday! What a fun knit.

Thanks Z for the pattern! These fixation socks are pretty funky. Especially with all the colour! I didn't do the slip stitch heel, as it wasn't comfy for me. The black pooled in exactly the same place, so I do have matching socks. Yay!

A Fun Knit

I finally got around to posting my first pair of Cascade Fixation Ankle Socks (done on size #5 Addi Turbo Circulars). This was a fun knit and I have already bought more Fixation to start another pair...as soon as I finish a few other projects already on the needles.

This pattern is Alison's Ankle Socks and uses short-row heels and short-row toes. I had never done either before; but, there is a great tutorial at the website. The only thing I would change on the next pair is I would add a longer cuff.

More blue socks!

Here's my first ankle sock using Fixation! I decided to be fancy and used the pattern for Lace Wings Fixation Socks. They are so comfortable! And they are for me, me, me!!! I can't wait to make more!

Blue Birthday Socks

I'm a big fan of the 2-circ method so I cast on 23 stitches on each needle, then basically proceeded top-down with a 5-row seed stitch cuff and ankle detail. The top of the toe is done is the same textured motif.

These anklets consumed 1+ balls of Cascade Fixation in color number 2625, a deep marine blue. They could have easily stuck to the 1-skein rule if I'd omitted a few rows between the top of the sock and the beginning of the ankle detail.

Initially, I had a problem with holes appearing on either side of my first-ever short row heel. It was sock knitter extraordinaire, Debi to the rescue. She advised me to pick up an extra stitch on each side and, voilĂ , no more hole.

a good sock pattern

does anyone have a good sock pattern to follow? I am new to knitting and would like to attempt these. Just finished a magic loop class. I am also not sure how to adjust for different size feet!! it would help if my family all had the same size feet thanks

Kid Socks

After finishing up my pair of fixation socks, of course the kidlets wanted a pair for themselves! I started a pair for #1 Son, but they ended up being too small. So Baby Girl gets this pair. Not what she originally picked out, but they match my socks so she's a happy camper. Check out my blog for more specifics.

Pink is done!

Finally my first pair of ankle socks that fit!! Not to short at the ankle! Ahhh! I think I've got my pattern down and it anyone wants it, email me at zbelmontATmsnDOTcom! It's mainly a generic pattern by me with toes by Karen! :) The first one I used size 3 dpns, and the 2nd one was with 2 circs. as I was helping to teach a 2 circ. class.

My first Socktoberfest pair!

These are for ME!

Finished a pair of socks on Friday and I've been wearing them since!! LOL I'm really happy with the way they came out and now the kids each want a pair! Small feet=quick socks so that works for me!!

First timer

Hey all,
I just got a ball of Cascade Fixation in a recent swap with a fellow knitter from the knittyboard. I've never knit with it before, but I did buy some for a secret pal of mine in the summer. Now it's my time to have some fun!
I'm looking forward to making a pair of anklesocks, it's not quite cool enough for slippers yet so these will be perfect to wear around the house when my toes get cool.
Now I'm off to find my needles... they're never all in one place.
Happy knitting!

Come, Fly Me

My first two pair were snatched up so fast, I didn't get a chance to post them! I love working with the Cascade Fixation, it hides all kinds of glitches. Anyway, these are the Cascade Lace Wings pattern and it was very fun to make. It was just enough of a lace pattern to keep me interested, but I could memorize it and not have to carry around a pattern! Love that! I used size 5 DPNs even though I have been making socks with 2 circulars. There is something real nice about using bamboo needles that comforts me. The picture isn't the greatest at showing the detail, but I hope you like them. I think I'll wear them tomorrow!

Pink

Should be my signature color! LOL! I finally got around to starting another pair! I've tweaked my pattern a bit with the help of Karen. I loved her rounder toes and they fit so well! Actually I am so happy as they will fit over the sides of my sneaker and not fall off like my first pair. Oh well, knit and learn! I used 42 stitches and ended up only needing to graft 6 sts at the end! Yay for that. I don't mind the K-stitch, it is just easier with fewer stitches.

Hope to have the other one done soon!

Knit Knot Purl Curl: Knitting for the Board, Loom and Rake by Marla Richard#links#links

Knit Knot Purl Curl: Knitting for the Board, Loom and Rake by Marla Richard#links#links

FINALLY!! Here they be!

Boy, it seemed to take forever to get these done. It didn't help that I suffered from a major case of "project interruptus" and everytime I picked them up again I made some bonehead mistake. But that's all behind me now. (At least as far as these socks go!)

They are headed off to DD up at college, nestled snugly in a care package containing Double Chocolate Cookies (thanks to Dad!) and inkjet printer cartridges which mysteriously seem to be unavailable to her in Burlington Vermont. The ink cartridges happen to cost $64 at any Staples. Hmmm...coincidence? I think not! She's no dummy, that's for sure.

Thursday, September 07, 2006

Yipee! I did use two balls for the two colors, but they're pretty short none the less. Great fun. I've got another pair on the needles, but they are going to be a bit taller. I'm just not an ankle sock kind of person. So where are people finding the color names? I've looked on Cascade's website and all I saw was color numbers?
